Do i need F-Spaced pickups for a Floyd rose bridge?

Re: Do i need F-Spaced pickups for a Floyd rose bridge?

I would say yes...but it MIGHT depend...if the guitar has a slanted pickup cavity then you might be ok...but as a rule yes

Re: Do i need F-Spaced pickups for a Floyd rose bridge?

I have always bought pickups with the F spacing, and over at the Jackson forum, there are guys who swear that yu need them F spaced with a Floyd and others that say you don't.

I just got a Full Shred that isn't F- spaced and it doesn't line up well at all, BUT I can't really notice any loss from my E strings.

I would reccomend a F-spaced or a Trembucker for a Trem-equiped axe.

Awsome, i just found the pickup i was wanting to get in F-Spacing!!!

Too bad that site charges $10 more.

With my JB and IBZUSA F1 pups, I can't hear a dropoff when the string is bent between poles. With a single coil and my Stag Mag I can. I think it doesn't matter with most buckers - I think the magnetic field is less focused with one magnet and metal poles than it is with 6 magnets.

its probably a better idea to get it f-spaced just to be safe but i have a humbucker in the bridge of my strat and the polepieces dont aling completely and i have absolutley no problem with string drop off on the e's or anything of the sort.

Re: Do i need F-Spaced pickups for a Floyd rose bridge?

I get the trembucker/f-spaced stuff because i don't like having stuff not lined up correctly. Some people don't care but personally i do.

Re: Do i need F-Spaced pickups for a Floyd rose bridge?

get it from blackrose customs, i believe they're priced the same there.

you dont actually ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO have an f-spaced bucker, but if they're made to fit the spacing, why not =) it's better to have a matching one as it lines up nicely and all that

Re: Do i need F-Spaced pickups for a Floyd rose bridge?

If I'm not mistaken, you don't have to get a F-spaced pickup for the neck pickup location.

Re: Do i need F-Spaced pickups for a Floyd rose bridge?

I think Trembuckers/f-spacing should be the regular Humbuckers and the other should be "Gibson-Spacing" or something.
Why?
A lot of modded guitars are strat-type and they have a bigger spacing between strings, even without floyd"
I think, that it is misleading the users who buy Bridge humbuckers and don't know that there are trembuckers. Most guitar shops have only regular humbuckers, and if you start with swapping pickups, you never heard of the difference and buy a regular.
