The title says it all, I have Windows XP pro, do I need some softwere to utilize a crappy computer mic?

I would like to be ready for my summer vacation and maybe get a little bit of slide stuff (acoustic) just so I can say that I recorded something.

Let me emphasize, really crappy mic.

Audacity is basically it i think
I don't know what that is, is it on Windows by default?

I could go look it up on google, but... Maybe I will.

Yep, that's it. I use Audacity for most of my recordings at home, and for simple multitrack stuff it's great.

Ok, thanks. Hopefully I'll be able to get some sloppy little clips on here. Probably will lose all of the tone, but I can live with that.

Prepare to be Dallasized... Unless you live there, then prepare to be late 60s Dallasized and if you were there, I don't care...
