I'm curious about this. MXR makes that orange Phase 90 pedal, sais it makes those "swirly phase tones". Does this do the same thing as rigging phase reversal with a dp/dt switch?
Re: Do phase pedals sound the same as phase reversal with a dp/dt switch?
the orange pedals are an effect called "phaser" the 2 things are totally different, phaser is a tone/pitch shifter kinda thing while reverse phase is the state of electrical relation, which is usually acounts for a nasal tone.
The pedal itself wouldn't be hard to make. You would have to have separate signals coming from each pickup, though. If you used a stereo cable you could, in theory make a pedal that would give you the options of putting the pickups in parallel or series and in or out of phase. Basically, you'd have all of the pickup switching options you do in a guitar but in footswitch form. You could even have it loop back into the guitar if you wanted a master tone and/or a master volume control. I'm not quite sure just how useful it would be, but I can see how it would be possible.
