Do you ever get metallic clank after palm mutes?

I'm sure you guys know what I mean? On higher gain settings while you play especially palm muting? Example; One: Metallica during the hard riff toward the end when the double bass starts. You riff with palm mute and stop, riff with palm mute and stop. OK. As I play this riff or any similar I get a funky metallic clank kinda annoying overtone at the last downpick in between riffs? It sorta reminds me of the trem vibrating through the strings or something? I'm not sure exactly how to explain but it bugs the crap out of me. Any advice? Could it possibly be the Jackson (Floyd) trem? The clank actually fades into an almost natural harmonic for about a second afterwards... Anywho I'll do whatever needs to be done to rid this darn noise. Help! :dunno:

Sounds like strings bouncing on frets. Drives me MAD if it happens.

Could be trem springs.--quick fix; stuff some cloth or foam behind the springs.

Could also be the pickup mounting springs, if the guitar has mounting rings.
I'm having this problem with my Dean Hardtail. I'm going to try electrical tape.

I tried electical tape on the springs just to see but it didn't help much, but that is what it reminds me of, the trem springs vibrating being picked up through the humbucker maybe.

Note. I did as bigheadood said and it worked flawlessly! No more funky clank! Case closed. Thanks Bro!

That happens on my Jackson, and I use it to my advantage (trem springs)
