Do you have a designated guitar for a specific tuning?

Re: Do you have a designated guitar for a specific tuning?

I've had guitars in E, Eb, D and C# over the years and currently have only one guitar left in Eb with the rest in E since I bought a Digitech Drop pedal which made life much easier being able to keep them all in E and use the pedal to drop down.

Good idea! All mine are in standard tuning. Have a D tuna on a couple

Couple in std, 1 in eb, one drop d, one drop C

my LTD is in drop D, which I use mainly and with my band. My jackson has a longer scale and is used for drop C.

I use my purpleheart Telecaster for detuned 1 step and drop D - what is that, Drop C?

It sounds so great, that guitar has always been the most powerful (thing in the universe)

No.

Respec' to Hipshot for their Extender Key devices.

Yep, current band guitar is in drop c tuning, and stays in that tuning. Been set up, intonated and nuts/saddles been filed to fit 12-56's in them. Occasionally may go down to drop b for other stuff but c is the main one.

Have another guitar with 10-52's that goes between standard e, eb standard, drop d, drop c# and drop c. Trying to justify getting a dedicated backup to the main guitar so I have 2 in drop c but just use this one if any time my main guitar goes down.

At the moment the band doesn't play in 4 different tunings or anything like that so I don't need 8 guitars (main and back up for each tuning) though I wish I did!

Usually two in D/Drop C, one or two in Eb and the rest in standard.

main guitar is in E standard.. stagemaster is in Eb.. My strat I use for E,Eb,D or those rare instances i d*ck around with open tunings.. Another guitar I use for C but I really need to up the gauge of strings in it to 11's or 12's..

Yep, my ESP is in drop c and the rest are half step and I am thinking about setting my RG Prestige up for drop c as well.

Re: Do you have a designated guitar for a specific tuning?

Eb standard on my 6's and Bb standard on my seven. I drop tune those when needed.

I believe most would call that D standard, drop C. A band I was in not too long ago did the same thing, except down a half a step from where you are (C-sharp standard, drop B). I used the singer's bass, and set it up for that tuning, just to learn the songs the way they tuned. However, I planned on eventually going to BEAD instead, with a custom extra long scale bass that I was building. Before that ever happened, the main guitarist moved to Portland. So I have this extra long scale BEAD bass in the works with no real use.

My band plays in C, so I've had my guitars tuned to that for the last few years. Finally bought a new guitar last month and in the process also revived one I never really used before, and so, for the first time in four years, I can finally play along to my stereo again :D

I only have 2 guitars right now (I know, amateur) but do enjoy keeping one at E standard and the other Eb. I hate retuning!

I have a black explorer pro that is tuned to B and I use her for anything else in that zip code.
