Do you keep your guitar on a stand or in its case?

Re: Do you keep your guitar on a stand or in its case?

On my days off my Ibanez sits in the stand ready to go at a moments notice. When I'm working all guitars go in their cases as I don't want my 3 year old to do any "custom modifications" while I'm not looking.

3 Mine of mine stay on wall hangers.Part of the decore of my bedroom :laugh2: (My wife hates it) normally my vintage guitars or
one's that can suffer headstock breaks stay in there cases. i also
keep my Semi-hollow and acoustic guitars in there cases since i
caught my 5 year old son demostrating His idea of surf guitar on top
of them. :smack:

Re: Do you keep your guitar on a stand or in its case?

I do both, but I'm planning to put them on hangers as soon as I can organize my gear space. If they're readily available, I'l play more frequently, I'm sure.

Wall hanger!!! My wife thinks I am trying to redecorate the house with them. Each time I get a new axe, I get a new Wallhanger and pick a new spot. She is cool about it though!!!

I bring collapsable stands with me to gigs, and the guitars travel in their original hardshell cases. The cases occupy the front closet until I need them. Another thing that ticks my wife off!!!

Oh well, it's better than having to buy new guitars every few months!!!

Electrics: One for standard tuning / Dropped D and a whole step down/ Dropped C are always out on stands (Further encourages frequent playing), the rest are in cases. They all get taken out for a spin at least oncea month, though. But some, like the Charvel Strathead or the Gibsons, immediately go back into the case afterwards and never really end up on a stand for more than a few ours at the most.

It´s become kind of a "rotating" system, those guitars generally get changed out for 2 others about every 4 weeks. Kind of practical, because I DO smoke in my 20 sq Yd apartment, and that (together with a good cleaning when they enter or exit the case) helps keep the nicotine film to a minimum ;)

Acoustics all hang on wall hangers.

Did I count 11 guitars for the 23 year old?
Damn.
I kinda think the older you get the faster it grows. I´m only 28 and I´m "working on" nr. 17 right now, another Charvel strathead ;)

I hang mine on the wall.
FYI...I picked up perfect coated hooks at Home Depot for a 1.40 each and a section of nice 2 x 4, sawed off square blocks, sanded up the edges and painted them black. I ended up with 8 guitar hangers for just about 20 bucks.

I don't have any guitars that aren't beaters so I just kinda lean 'em on amps, dressers, my bed...

Sometimes leaning 'em on my bed can be a problem, especially if there's two next to eachother...the Jazz Bass tends to fall to the side and there've been a few occassions where it's taken out a Strat or two on the way down...ouch.

normally i have all my guitar in cases since i have 3 cats and they could easily knock over the stands or scratch something(iwould start crying if something happende to my B.C. Rich Custom)

Re: Do you keep your guitar on a stand or in its case?

I was also curious because after I sell my classic I'm gonna get a 57 RI goldtop, and I'm not sure if I want to keep that on my stand or in its case. I probably wouldn't be doing such a beautiful guitar justice by keeping it in the case. Half the pleasure with such a nice guitar is starring at it and calling it 'mine' :laugh2:

Re: Do you keep your guitar on a stand or in its case?

I used to keep them in cases, but they take up too much room.

So downstairs in the music room I have my main electrics, my bass, and my acoustic on a rack.

Upstairs I have my sisters acoustic (well it's technically mine now since she has quit playing) and my squier strat both on individual stands.

Re: Do you keep your guitar on a stand or in its case?

I have been in the habit of keeping my lp on a wall mount thing that goes on the side on my amp and attaches to the handle on top, which i though was pretty damn cool until about 2 hours ago when i caught the cord with my boot and knocked the strap pin about an eight of an inch into the wood. I believe i am gonna start keeping it in the case now.

Re: Do you keep your guitar on a stand or in its case?

My Flying V and Explorer are on a double stand, my P Bass is on the single stand, and my Yamaha Classical is always in its case when it isn't being used.

If they're in cases, I may as well not own them. I live in earthquake territory, so wallhangers are not an option. The only one I leave in it's case is my $4000 Les Paul Black Beauty 35th Ann. in mint condition. The rest are lined up on Warwick stands against a wall.
