I was also curious because after I sell my classic I'm gonna get a 57 RI goldtop, and I'm not sure if I want to keep that on my stand or in its case.

Just be careful of wall hangers. The tubing can eat right through a nitro finish. I happened with my SG. Gibsons seem to be much more vulnerable to this. I put cloth over the surgical tubing and it seems to work just fine.

Let's see, on the wall in my music room are my old MIM Strat and the Hwy 1 Tele. Those are guitars that I don't have a problem with leaving out. The Heritage, PRS and Les Paul are in their cases. I just have this phobia about a snapped off headstock. So, it's much harder for that to happen in a case. When I get my new house built, I'm going to have my music room have better climate control. It won't be long before I have to go out and buy a dehumidifier for my current room.

Keeping in cases for protection only. Keep the crappier guitars on the wall for quick access should I only have 5 mintues to play.

True, but if you choose well, that's not an issue. Three of the guitars in my pic on the first page have nitro-finished necks.

I have mine in a stand... Yeah I know I should keep it in a case but at least I'm not just throwing it on the couch like I did with me old strat knock-off.

neither.
i keep all my guitars in their cases ever since the paul fell off the stand, causing the headstock to snap clean off. i would be incredibly angry if that happened to my SG or my ibanez, especially considering that they aren't bolt-ons like the paul was.

Most of the common players are on stands for quick access, but there are some days that they are put in their comfy plush cases. Whatever I want! Because I am not a machine!

Everyday practice guitar in stand (whichever one I'm likeing the sound of the most at present. Restored Silvertone in case, strat knock off in case. All in cases or gigbags when traveling.

Mostly theft plus nicotine and I´m "accident prone metalhead", no need for unnecessary risks

Although less dust and slightly longer string life are nice, too

My Les Pauls are in their cases when I'm not playing them - I'd hate for anyone else in the family to feel responsible for damaging one. The acoustic and the bass are usually in their cases as I don't use them much. The Strat, being a more rugged beast, is more likely to be leaning in a corner somewhere. My kids know I don't mind them playing that one. Since the puppy arrived in November all the guitars live in the spare room upstairs. Dog stays downstairs!

Great idea! One of our dogs (Anna) used to gnaw on anything & everything when she was a pup. I wouldn't even let her near the guitar cases. Now she could care less, but it was rough for a while there. I could just imagine her getting hold of the SG and gnawing off the horns!!!!!!

I like stands. They give your axe proper support and me quick access.

One stays on the stand, the rest in cases. The acoustic always goes back in the case after I'm done playing.

I always keep at least one of them out on a stand, and the other one in the case.

I just recently brought my MIM back from the dead and I'm playing that a lot now because I missed it so it's out on the stand while the MIA is in the case.

Well right now my Acousitic is leaned up against my amp, LP Jr. on a stand and the tele on a stand. Ibanex GAX70 in it's case cause it's not working. Usually I'll keep the one or two I swap them back and forth every few days. Even though my guitars aren't top of the line I can just sit and look at them all day. The guitar is a beautiful thing.

The guitars are either in my hands or in the case. On the occasions that I need a quick restroom break or need to make a phone call I will rest it on a stand...... but I don't trust them. The best stands have a tendency to fall over. I would strongly recommend you keep your guitar in its case!!!!!!

so a stand like this is unsafe?

Mine seems like it would be impossible to have a guitar fall off, especially up against the wall.... These are especially good when I have my buds over for a jam, they can all put their guitars on it.

i keep my strat on a stand, mso tof the itme, and my acoustic just leans against my table, since its a cheapo acoustic i dont care. Mind you if got something a little more pricy and fragile it would be in the case.

I don't put my guitars on stands, I put them on hangers on my wall. I don't hang my Satriani because I'm always afraid that it may fall for some reason lol. Some stands are really crappy and with one touch th guitar is down. But I use hangers that are weight responsive and close down on the neck when the guitar is hung.
