Re: do you name your gear

Mine are named:

- The Les Paul,

- The '69 Les Paul,

- The P90 Les Paul; and,

- The SG.

And on a surprising note, my cat is named Cat. She used to be called Cat-2, but when Cat died she was promoted to Cat.

Same. Although the Strats seems to be multiplying like Cats...

Re: do you name your gear

i number mine in importance.. #1 is my go-to.. #6 rarely gets played.

amps get a variety of names.. depends how good they sound that day.. and how good i sound that day...lol

Re: do you name your gear

One of my guitars came with a name, and I honor it. The rest tend to be named by feature (the 7-string) or appearance (the Coffin Lid) or their name brand (the Schecter).

Re: do you name your gear

I name mine. My Hamer Echotone is Charlotte (I just like the name), my 5 string bass is Emily (after my sister), my acoustic is Felicity (after the Marvel Comics Black Cat), my SG is Giovanna (after my god-daughter), and my new Fender Jazz will have a name to be determined.

Re: do you name your gear

No names from me, I call them strat, tele, ES etc. I gave a name to this one but I refer to her as tele:

No, sir. I do not. <Implied Tommy Lee Jones meme.>

Re: do you name your gear

I can hardly remember my kids names, let alone my gear? Unless you count the colors as names? I'll tell my girl "get me the black 1 & the red one" & s*** like that sometimes? Once she figured out the difference between a Strat, a Tele, & an offset she could manage my collection fairly well???

Re: do you name your gear

Yes I do. The guitars all get female names, sometimes Japanese-language female names (Jazzmaster's name is Kureha, previously had a strat named Arisa, my bass is Makoto a.k.a Mako-chan), sometimes names plucked from a female character in a video game or TV show (once had a guitar I named Lenneth, a Valkyrie Profile reference, Mako-chan happens to be a Sailor Moon reference), basically I figure I can get unique names from oddball sources, as long as I like the sound of the name. Giving the guitar a name in the first place, well that sorta comes from the idea of Lucille.
They must be female names as I've never understood names like Muddy Waters' guitar Hoss, or Keefs Micawber, why would you want masculine names? Do you wanna feel like you are putting your hands all over something masculine? That may be uh... fine for some, but not for me.
I guess also my affinity for Japanese names comes from when I was a kid. Best friend growing up was Japanese American, he turned me on to some J-rock which really fueled my desire to play guitar in the first place.

Name the amps? Nah.

Here's Kureha.

Oooooooh she's nice! I love modded guitars, wiring, pups, floyd.......yeah!

I guess I should take pics of mine, but my black flyin V is Tori Black & my big ass LP is Alexi Texas.

Re: do you name your gear

My Les Paul is named after my great grandmother, though I never refer to it by that name. I did write it on the truss rod cover though. I doubt I'll name any other guitars.
