Do you need to remove pickup covers to swap magnets? Process?

Hey all-

Have a sick Edwards LP. Sounds a little wooly with the JB/59 combo.

I'd like to just swap ceramics into these and call it a distortion set of some kind.

Can this be done 1 without removing the pickup covers? If not, how do you properly do that?

What magnets would you get for this swap? Best place to buy? First time I'd be doing it.

Thanks-

gotta remove the covers first. if you want ceramics then c8 is what you want. i remove as much solder as i can with an iron and solder sucker, then use a razor blade to cut through whatever is left, gotta be careful so as not to destroy the coil and kill the pup so slow and patient is the way

-Addicionfx seems to be the most popular site, if you are outside of the US other places may be cheaper/better, but possibly not. I'm in Europe and got mine there.
