Do you, should you, delete "sold" posts?

Do you delete a post after it's sold, or leave it up for historical / reference purposes?

Can you change the title to put 'sold' in there? It might be worth not deleting as a reference for someone who might consider buying or selling to you...just to see what your communication is like.

I always go by keeping the information out there so people can read it or not. It does help for research, but it also helps to see resolutions if things don't go as expected.

With out the sold for price
the research element doesn't exist

When I research I want to know what it sold for
Not how long it was listed

At least a sold at the end
Probably should close it

deleted is optional

On one hand, I understand that. On the other hand, it's informative to see what stuff has sold for. When I sell something, I like to be fair.

If you want to see what items have sold for, you can always do a search on eBay and/or Reverb. Both sites allow you to filter by "sold" listings and you'll usually get far more results than here, which are also more relevant because they're likely somewhat recent. It might be years between a specific pedal or pickup being listed for sale on this forum, so it's not a good resource for tracking prices, in my opinion.

As for deleting or keeping posts, I know I wouldn't want Reverb or eBay cluttering my feed with a bunch of "sold" posts, so I typically choose to delete my threads after the sale. That way, other members' posts are more easily seen. I'm sure a handful of my listings still exist on these pages, but those are generally the exception and are most likely multiple item listings that just got buried with time.

For SD forum bros, I usually list items ~10% less than I would sell for on eBay/Reverb and/or include free shipping. I'd rather give a forum friend a discount than pay that same $$ to Reverb/eBay.

I don't have a hard rule here. I suppose if FS posts were clogging up the feed, but they really aren't.

Yeah, I'm actually very surprised how dead the Trading Post has become once a couple previous members stopped running their side hustles here!

Yeah, that was never the intention there. I think we cracked down on that sort of thing, as some members were just posting on so many forums to avoid Ebay and Reverb fees. Not really in the spirit of the forum.

Yup. I'm usually closer to 20% - 30% for forum bro's. Stuff usually sells before it ever makes it to other sites.

i always try and sell things here first, but i dont sell much. i am glad we finally got the constant trading post threads to stop, we dont need that here

I'd say if you're selling something cool, lock the post after it sells and respond "sold" as the final post. If you're selling something boring, might as well take it down.
