DOD

Perusing my local smalltown guitar shop today, appears they had taken in 2 DOD pedals as if late, the famous/infamous Grunge and the Fuzzface wanna be Classic Fuzz. The Grunge had sold but the Fuzz was still there and it had the ever elusive battery door cover. If I was a fuzz fan, just for nostalgia, DOD is what I started with in the early 90s, Id probably go back and get it.

I owned 2 DOD pedals in my life. The FX56-B American Metal, my first ever pedal, and some years back my wife picked up a FX55-B Supra Distortion for me that was in pretty good shape for $25. What a horrible sounding pedal. I didn't keep it.

I had the American metal along w a delay, chorus and one or two others. When I first started playing, all my pedals were DOD, at 18 and not knowing any different, thought I was hot chit

Growing up, I always considered DOD pedals to be inferior to Boss and MXR in basically every category, but their early ODs and bucket brigade stuff can be great.

Now now... ragging on DOD pedals... tone is subjective, remember?

Therefore, gear that sounds like ass actually sounds good.

:13:

Growing up, I had a DOD chorus and a Phaser. Both sounded good but had those weird electronic switches.

I have an old DOD Looper Gate, works like charm.

At gigs, I had other guitarists compliment my tone and sounds, when I show them it's old DigiTech multi effect pedal boards .... They thought I had a Line 6 Helix or something new ....

I used a DOD graphic eq pedal for a couple years when I was gigging regularly and never had any problems with the switch, battery clip, or battery cover.
To be fair, though, I take good care of my stuff.

I currently have the 201 Phasor reissue on my board. Excellent. I also remember fondly the 250 and a couple delays and choruses I had.

I did buy the Grunge for a friend’s birthday. He stopped playing about a year later and today he’s a lawyer. I blame myself.
