Does a neck pickup affect the tone/sound of the Bridge pickup?

hey guys,
I noticed that some people say to others if you get this certain pickup, get a good match for it for the neck because it'll tame it down, etc..

Does the neck pickup affect the bridge pickup tone at all?? I mean, we're talking when the switch (Lespaul) is on Bridge position.

I know that when its in middle position, both pickups work together and up position the neck pickup works.

thanks,
Duke

Just think that stwich makes them electronicaly shortcut (unconnected). Let's say that the bridge pickup doesn't know anything about the neck pickup...

When the switch is set to the bridge pickup? No...not that I know of. I do think a guitar with just a bridge pickup might resonate a little differantly than a guitar with two pickups because the guitar strings are not being subjected to the magnetic attraction and string pull of two pickups with a one pickup guitar. But that's not what you're asking about.

What people mean by that is that you want a neck pickup that sounds good at the same amp settings that the bridge pickup sounds good at (you don't want to be running over to the amp to change settings when you switch pickups).

You need two pickups that are balanced unless you really WANT one to be much louder than the other or have much more treble (or whatever).

:burnout:

hey guys,
Thanks for the info.. see, i am gonna change the bridge pickup first in my Epi Lespaul. I am gonna put a Custom Sh-5 in there. So, the neck pickup will stay stock for a while.

Thanks,
Duke

One thing I noticed with my Custom Custom, when it is in my single humbucker guitar it sounds hotter than when in my guitar with HSS. Both guitars are made of different wood but both only use a single 500K volume pot. The different wood would affect the tone not the amount of drive.
