DOES ANYBODY HAVE A FAVOURITE VERSION OF THE JIMMY PAGE TYPE WIRING ?

Re: DOES ANYBODY HAVE A FAVOURITE VERSION OF THE JIMMY PAGE TYPE WIRING ?

Try this one:
94 Sound Wiring Option
This modification requires that the guitar have 3 humbucking pickups, each of which is wired with a series/parallel switch.
Yes, it really has 94 different pickup switching arrangements.
Granted, each of the 94 sounds do not sound totally different from each other.
However, recently, "compound" pickup arrangements are becoming popular (for example, one pickup in parallel with the other 2 in series). This switching arrangement allows you to try all possible arrangements (compound and otherwise). In this way you can decide which ones you like.

Ever tried soldering a 6-pin push-pull with 3 pot lugs and a cap all on the same pot chassis? I keep the cap off the pot and switch chassis. Easier to solder and less chance of overheating something that is needed to work.
I have not, yet. Where do you put the caps then? On the SD diagram the caps are going from the middle lug to ground so I wouldn't think it would be too difficult since it shouldn't get bunched up with the other wires on the 6-pin. These are the pots that I am using.

Typically between the volume and tone pots on Gibson guitars. But try it your way. You'll see.

If I do it this way how can I prevent damage to the caps? That is my only concern with the limited space and having to pull/twist the pots to get them in place.

Have to confess to having never tinkered with a 3 Humbucker guitar. That looks interesting but I think you might need a good memory.

Agree 100% with mixing humbuckers in series and parallel.
