I have 2 Carvins. One has C22's and other S22. The electronics don't look cheap. I can see that the pots are indeed very close to the edges of the cavity so I hope it does not cause problems to upgrade my pickups. I think it would be a far stretch to say that they don't put the same quality in electronics as they do in everything down to the pickup cavity.

The stock pickups are very good. They sound a little plain but you cannot really complain because they make their pickups for a variety of music. Mine are bright but not a sweet kind of bright like Fender pickup. They do not have sweet midrange like Dimarzio or SD. Just kind of plain.

I heard they will install pickups if you send to them. I wish I thought of that before. I'll have to ask them when I order 2 more Carvins

I've had several different pickups in my late 80's Carvin Ultra V.
Finally came to the conclusion that the original Carvin pickups, M22SD and M22N sounded the best.

Many people don't like Carvin pickups, but I like them in certain guitars.

Yep and love the older M22's with the maple spacers and the Braided wire leads. The C22's also aren't half bad and in particular I like the C22B with a C22T in the neck. There is NOTHING like the tone of an old Carvin with a M22SD through a JCM 800 or 900 Marshall!! Played that combo throughout the 90's and still own a 1990 Marshall MK III JCM 900 dual Master and a 1990 Carvin X220C. That amp/guitar combo still get's played out regularly!
Here is a blast from the past for ya. It's a live recording from 1993 and I'm using my old JCM 900 Dual Reverb and a all maple 1989 Carvin DC200 with a SD in the bridge.
