Does anyone know about the Benedetto line?

Specifically the A6 and PAF models. $149 seems like alot for a pickup, but am still curious as to how they sound like compared to the regular production pickups from Seymour Duncan. I know the A6 is wound to something like 12k and there is nothing that SD makes in that range (though I wish there was), but the PAF seems (from their specifications)to be pretty comparable to the Duncan 59.

Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Does anyone know about the Benedetto line?

I know a bit about the Benedetto pickups. ;-)

The A-6 is voiced like the "S" and "B" series -- that is, very clear and articulate. You're right that they're around 12K. They were designed by a jazz guitar builder who really wanted the acoustic sound of the instrument to be clear. If you've ever seen a Benedetto Benny Model, this is the pickup Bob uses.

The P.A.F. is yet another take on the 1955 original, but a tad warmer than the '59.

I hope that helps.

Re: Does anyone know about the Benedetto line?

Thanks, it helps quite a bit. :)

How do you think an A6/PAF pair would compare to, say, a Custom/59 setup?

Re: Does anyone know about the Benedetto line?

the a6 sounds nothing like a custom, not that ive a/b'd them or heard them in similar guitars but the a6 doesnt have the aggressive mids the custom does.

i bet the a6/paf combo would be pretty sweet though

I think that I'm going to have to try it now. :burnout:

Do the regular Duncan nickel humbucker covers fit the Benedetto A6/PAF? I like the black covers, but my Hamer has nickel hardware. :smack:

Re: Does anyone know about the Benedetto line?

i dont know honestly. evan?

Re: Does anyone know about the Benedetto line?

Thanks Evan. I might get a set for my Hamer Studio FM. I'll let y'all know how it works out.

Re: Does anyone know about the Benedetto line?

My guess is that it's basically the same as a PAF except I bet it uses 43 AWG instead of 42 AWG for a little more mid range. That thing looks killer with the black cover on it!
