Does ANYONE know anything about the Mojave Peacemaker?

Re: Does ANYONE know anything about the Mojave Peacemaker?

They're very well built and they pretty much nail EVH tone. I haven't heard a cross word about them.

Hit www.plexipalace.com the Palace is where all the Mohave stuff is made. Great sounding amps with extreme loyalty from those that own one.

Re: Does ANYONE know anything about the Mojave Peacemaker?

Well, I love the clips!
So, it'll be a Diesel VH-4 vs. a Peacemaker showdown in '05!!

Re: Does ANYONE know anything about the Mojave Peacemaker?

twilight,
i had a mojave peacemaker to get the evh sound because i loved those clips...when i got it it sounded ok i guess but you had to dime the amp to get that and it sounded horrible with an attenuator...plus, i think those clips were recorded with a seperate power amp set up + the peacemaker together...so i sold it...i wasn't that impressed to be honest...and i'd pay ANY amount of money to get the brown sound...

right now i'm going to try a splawn quick rod amp...after talking with scott splawn it sounds like you can get the brown sound with this amp even at bedroom levels...

Re: Does ANYONE know anything about the Mojave Peacemaker?

it's also interesting that lynch used the mojave ONLY for cleans...the guys at plexi palace made it seem like that was his main gain amp....

Re: Does ANYONE know anything about the Mojave Peacemaker?

Wow, thanx for the heads up! :)
I would have to play the amp first, of course. I have lots of experience with the Diesel, and it's slowly been growing on me to the point where I can see it fitting into my current rigs.
I don't like redundant tones, which is why I have so many different amps and guitars as opposed to 5 of the same guitars or amps ...

Re: Does ANYONE know anything about the Mojave Peacemaker?

yeah...the peacemakers are pretty expensive..$2500 or so...no master volume...obviously...those clips had me peeing my pants and one of the guys at plexi palace sold me his used peacemaker for like $1750 or so...

again, you're talking to some one who would pay $$$$ to get that brown sound...i've been chasing it since i was 14...

so i hooked it up when it arrived and it sounded ok...i wasn't super crazy about it...plus, my band would have kicked me out because to get it to sound good you had to turn it up full volume and the attenuator i used ...tried both both a hotplate and a power brake...made it sound horrible...so i bagged it...

wish me luck with the splawn...hopefully i can get that tone with the quick rod and stop spending so much money...

Re: Does ANYONE know anything about the Mojave Peacemaker?

Yes! Let me know how the splawn turns out!
I'm not really after the brown sound, I just like nice-sounding stuff! :D

Re: Does ANYONE know anything about the Mojave Peacemaker?

I saw them at a music store in LA, and was excited as I plugged in, only to be disappointed. The guys at Plexi Palace really know their stuff, so I still can't figure out why the head is clean, cold, and grainy. I had the same experience with Roccaforte and Carr El Moto's. For the best vintage Marshall sound, I think I'd go for the Blockhead Custom 50 or a Wizard......or the real deal. I'm a fan of great amps regardless of whether they're P to P or high tech circuit board. After owning quite a few P to P amps, I'm beginning to be more impressed with amps like Bogner, Diezel, Cornford, and Tophat Emplexadors.

You know....I wonder if that's because it's a fixed bias amp.

One of my greatest experiences was playing a Tophat 1/2 stack at 30th Street guitars in their "Blast Room". I'm NOT a PRS fan at ALL ... but the Custom 22 + the Tophat was RAGING!

Re: Does ANYONE know anything about the Mojave Peacemaker?

I liked the Tophat Emplexador I played. It was great for lighter gain stuff and the cleans weren't too bad. There are plenty of plexi-ish type amps on the market today. It's getting that dimed "brown" sound that's difficult. I was always under the impression the Mojave would nail it. I liked the THD Flexi cranked with a THD Hotplate and the "boost" option on: just killer articulation, gain and sustain. The Voodoo Amps V-Plex is supposedly very convincing and Splawn's stuff is supposed to be great as well.

The hardest thing is to find an amp with "everything" in it. The brown sound I would love to have as well (it's one of my favorite tones, by far), but cleans are a necessity as well. I'm currently drooling over Divided by 13's FRT 37 and Suhr's OD-100. Those have the blackface cleans and vintage plexi Marshall pretty much nailed from what I've read. I read a review on H-C saying my Bad Cat Hot Cat could get that brown sound, but I disagree. I'd put it more in the Silver Jubilee type category.
