Does Emulator + Atomic amp = tube amp?

This is a really important question. Lost of people are very happy with their POD (or other emulator, Boss GT-x, Magicstomp, etc) into an Atomic.

But, even with the POD xt into the Atomic, does one get a something that sounds like real tube amp (dynamics included!) or something that sounds merely like a POD sounding more realistic or better? The word merely has to be qualified, in that the sounds of emulators are FANTASTIC these days.

But is there a difference?

Thanks....

i'll soon be able to tell you. i have a podXT i use now through headphones and through some high dollar 5pc. computer speakers with a sub and it sounds pretty good for my use (high gain) i just ordered an atomic two days ago so when it gets here and i have some time to work on the settings and such i can give you an update on how much the sound changes better or worse.

Basically its a solid state preamp into a tube power amp.

dunno, i think all sound different, and I doubt anyone listening to you would be able to identify if it is a tube amp or not. I love the PODxt, and I couldn't care less if it sounds like a tube amp, it just sounds 'good'.

I think it would sound and feel excellent... but it wouldnt be exactly like an all tube amp for the simple reason that it isnt... but that doesnt take way from it necessarily either...

I'm not sure I would say that.

The modelers take into account the power amp and other factors (speakers, cabs, etc)..not just the pre-amp voicing.

I don't have any experience with the Atomic, but I suspect it just warms up the existing sound from the modeler. It has a very high wattage speaker for only an 18 watt amp, so I suspect this thing is really meant to complement the modeler as it's supposed to work.
