hey texas slinger...... is that an epi elite les paul?......
No just a regular Epiphone. I opened her up as soon as I got her and found that she had solid mohogany body and a solid maple cap, not the veneer you find on the standard models. As soon as I get my recording gear in order I'll post some clips so you can hear how sweet she is or you can come to the SD Texas Jam. :)

Re: Does Epiphone get a bad rap?

I think the high end epi's are solid guitars unlike their lower end models which are, well not so good.

Yesterday evening I played an Epiphone LP Custom with a '59/Custom set. Sweet axe, good sound, great feel on the neck. It was pretty light, I'm almost shure it's lighter than my basswood MIK Ibanez RG.

I think epi's sport alder caps on mahogany, might explain why they are so light compared to a Gibson.

Yes. The Epiphone elite les paul studio in wine red definately caught my attention.

I have the studio (not elite) in wine red!

Re: Does Epiphone get a bad rap?

I saw a couple of the Elite Series Epi's. They look pretty sweet! But, IMHO, I'd never pay $1K for one when you can get a Gibson LP Studio for a couple bucks more.

Re: Does Epiphone get a bad rap?

The easiest way to tell the difference between the standard epi les pauls and the elite series is the tip of the headstock...the elite series is rounded in the very center with no dip whereas then standard has a little dip in it.
