Does Epiphone make a LP Custom with p90s?

I sold my first White custom... and now I'm regretting it. But I've got humbuckers in my strat and would like to go for a different tone with my next purchase. Anyone know if Epi makes an LP slotted for p90s?

I've never seen an Epi Custom with that kind of factory defect, no.

Re: Does Epiphone make a LP Custom with p90s?

In all seriousness, though, I don't see any Les Paul with P90's on the Epiphone website right now, though I could swear I've seen gold-top Standards with P90's.

yeah i couldn't find any either. i was hoping maybe they had them in the past. I'm not a fan of gold tops or I'd just get that. I just want my old LP with p90s :\

ehh... still not the same. thank you though. Maybe I'll have to go for a set of Mississippi Queens or Phat Cats or something

They make a '56 reissue.

Edit: oops...Sanford beat me to it.

Never seen an Epi Custom with stock P-90's. However, using HB-sized P-90's allows you to retro-fit them to any LP. I have an Epi LP Std with a pair of Phat Cats with an A8/A8 bridge, and an A5/A5 neck, and they sound great; raw and powerful. I'm also putting a P-94/StapleN in an Epi LP Custom, to make it a '54 Custom.

It's a strange omission for a brand that's made a tribute model to most of the 1 year wonders over the last decade or so...they made an ES5 sorta thing, a Wiltshire, and lots of other models with what would seem to be 'limited appeal'. A decent LP Custom with P90's, esp since the Gibson is mucho $$$, would seem obvious...

+1. They've come out with dozens of new models & limited editions in the last 5 years. And a few have had P-90's (like the Riviera P93 and the LP Special). Let's hope they continue with this trend. P-90's are making a resurgence in popularity.

Why not email Eiphone/Gibson Customer Service & tell them what models you'd like to see (I've done it many times). My wish list is:

- flame top LP Std with soap bar P-90's
- 1954 LP Custom with a P-90 bridge & Alnico Staple neck
- old-style P-90 SG Special (Santana, Townsend, & Iommi)
- 1952 gold top LP with a trapeze tailpiece (the original!)
- 335 Dot with twin dog ear P-90's (avoids the feedback issues of a Casino)
- A 'Super SG' with HB/P-90/P-90 and a 5-way switch (long overdue answer to Super Strats)
- and bring back the limitd edition ebony '56 LP Std; they didn't make nearly enough of them!

Let's start a grassroots movement!

+1. What a cool guitar. Why aren't these mass-produced?

To keep the vintage prices sky high.

Cynism aside, these are rare guitars... and have an unique sound.

The very first Gibson LP I had in my hands was one of these. I was eleven years old and I just graduated in classical guitar from the conservatory. It was my teacher's husband guitar.

BTW---I'm curious what Epi LP gets you in the 'decent' ballpark (beside the Elitist). I'm looking for a transplant victim for a set of old P13's, preferably black. Not 'zackly a Custom w/ P90's, but those pickups are in a league of their own. Any advice welcome; I don't have much experience with the Epi LP stuff...

So, 72,400 yen is what? $780 or so...a little more than a new Epi Custom with HB's (if you could get one here).

Thank you guy for the help. The Japanese guitars definitely intrigue me. Just wish I could play one to see if they stack up the Epiphone's necks. Maybe once I get to Japan :p
