I have two unused pick ups (BK & Stevens Designed) that i need a 'donor-body/guitar' for.

I want a big full hollow.
My local guitar store have one of each in stock : The Ibby is brand new / the Epi is Used.

BOTH guitars are identical in body size, but i do prefer the matt fin on the neck of the Ibbby.

Do you guys think the pick ups will 'react' the same in both guitars ?
I played both guitars unpluged today and acoustically, they sound very, very similar too.
The Epi is a little bit more expensive . . .

. . . which one would you guys get, if you had some extra pick ups laying around ?

Thanks

Finish, price, I like silver more than gold. Gotta go with the Ibanez.

I've always liked the look of the Joe Pass. In fact when the Phat Staple was offered to the forum I was very close to buying a set plus a Joe Pass to put them in! (In fact I still want to...)

I've heard the Epi's usually have tuning issues and quality problems, but that's not always true. Another thing is, which switch/pots configuration do you prefer? I like the Ibanez for looks and price.

My vote will go for the ibanez. I have been super impressed with them in general.
However, you gotta buy the one that speaks to you more. plain and simple.

Those models depreciate so much that I'd spend a week searching Craigslist and Ebay first.

There's a few other good brands like Peerless, Eastwood, Washburn etc. Search them all.

That advice means nothing to someone in South Africa, like the OP.

I do like those Ibby's a bit, much more what I expect from a hollow.

Don't know much about the Joe Pass, thought it was a Swingster.

Ibanez! Chrome hardware, and a satin finish that doesn't show fingerprints and you don't stick to.

My older bro has an Ibby big box, and I can testify it's got the goods. Sweet tone, smooth action and solid craftsmanship.

I say Epi in this case. The spruce top, the gold hardware, the big single cutaway. Classic look. I expect that it plays like a dream, too. How much is "a little more expensive" though. If it's $150, I wouldn't be shelling that out when the Ibby looks damn near amazing as well. Probably about $75 is my limit for "a little more".

It is exactly 100 USD more than the brand new Ibby !

I'd probably go with the Ibby in this case. I didn't see that it was a single cutaway, too.
