Re: Does Marty Friedman use 2x JBJ pickups?
I was going by the insubstantial pieces of information I had, and some guesswork, and I wasn't always stating facts, or pretending to. But he did state in an interview somewhere he used the blades as frets. Can't they be raised? What do you mean by 'fretting off' the blades if they couldn't be used as frets?
I think I remember the SFSGSW tones sounding very JB, so you were right there.
His signature KV Pro had the J92-C, not the regular models. The ad right there says so, unless they had updated specs later.
Marty Friedman did say that they went straight into their hot-rodded Marshalls, and added some 'juice' to the tracks afterwards, so you were right there. I suppose that was my inclination towards fresh, non-overproduced sounds while recording distorting my instinct.
Sorry dude but thats a large bunch of malarky. Dave never recorded with a King V pro. RIP was recorded with J2713 with a JB in the bridge Countdown was recorded with DM010 with a JB in the bridge. The blades on that version of the L500 dont stick up enough to be used as frets he did use the edge of the pickup to fret off of though. Something he could do with any pickup not just the L500. Many of the KVPros came with J80C's not J92C's ask me how I know this. View attachment 55322 The duncan in the bridge of Daves main J2713 appeared with a JB before the recording of So far so good so what.
The major difference you hear between those 2 albums is the production. Their are gear differences but i guarantee you the production plays much more into the differences than the CAE preamp that was used on RIP versus the Bogner Preamp that was used on Countdown. And certainly those differences are much bigger than any that just a magnet could make.
