can it cause problems?

Re: Does Reveresing A Pickup Change Sound?

well there are 3 possibilities
1)the coils are exact the same (wich means machine wounded ,like a Duncan Distortion). So the sound will not change
2)The coils are actually the same ,but scatter wounded by hand ( a CS PU )so the sound may change ,but the difference wouldn't be big
3)The coils are not identical (like some Dimarzios or Hybrids) ,the sound changes .

offcourse not to mention the screws. If you change the screw heights and flip the PU ,you can change the sounds.

But either way ,it would not cause problems!

That's about right. With equal winds, the only thing you're hearing is the difference in the pole pieces. So a PAF style pickup would definitely change, but it's subtle. The screw poles (especially if they're long) are thinner and they elongate the magnetic field.
