hey does the JB-4 model humbucker have good harmonics(pinch harmonics)
and could it be used for like acdc and black sabbathy stuff?

Re: does the JB-4 model humbucker have good harmonics

It has OK harmonics. I have played every Duncan bucker and alot of Dimazrio's stuff, not to mention other brands. ACDC and Sabbath, it could do it OK. There are alot better choices for those 2 bands though.

What kind of guitar and amp are you going to be using and maybe I can give you a better suggestion for these tones.

Re: does the JB-4 model humbucker have good harmonics

i use line 6 and what pcikups would u suggest for those bands and i really love harmonics so just hit me up with a few suggestions

Re: does the JB-4 model humbucker have good harmonics

For sick harmonics, and the stuff you like, I highly suggest the Custom 5.

I think the JB reproduces harmonics very well, among the best of the Duncan buckers for that.

Yeah, in my experiences the JB was better with harmonics than the custom.

Re: does the JB-4 model humbucker have good harmonics

the JB really does do better harmonics than the custom.

Re: does the JB-4 model humbucker have good harmonics

In a good guitar, I can make the JB scream. It can also play jangly, crunchy, warm, growling, etc.

Re: does the JB-4 model humbucker have good harmonics

Willy, you say you're using a Line 6 amp. Which one, and how? (What channel, model, how much gain, etc.)

Re: does the JB-4 model humbucker have good harmonics

spider 3 but i can do any setting i guess but theodie said i should get custom and 59 so u think that jb and 59 would be better? and i have a gibson sg faded

Re: does the JB-4 model humbucker have good harmonics

We should make a listing by song.

Re: does the JB-4 model humbucker have good harmonics

One thing nobody has mentioned about teh JB in this thread is, the JB is VERY picky about what guitar it is in. A JB is wonderful in the right guitar but, absolutely horrible in the wrong one. The JB usually likes 25.5 scale guitars like super strats. So far, I am the only one that knows what guitar it is going into. You have a short scale axe which a JB usually does not agree with in most cases.

As far as what teh JB can do vs. the C5, they can do about the same thing. However, the Custom 5 will do classic stuff much better and some forms of metal much better due to a much tighter low end. The JB tends to be really loose in the low end especially on the wrong guitar but, it is still a bit loose anyway. The JB is your 80's metal pickup. THat was the 80's sound fo rthe most part, that si where it excels. Also, teh JB excels at solo's. Nothing sings like it and cuts like it. The downside, due to it being flubby and loose on the bottom, it can suck for rhythms.

Re: does the JB-4 model humbucker have good harmonics

Can, but doesn't have to. Jackson picks it as their go-to bridge pickup for a reason: it kicks all kinds of ass in those 25.5" maple-necked superstrats, Vs, etc. I can't think of anything else I'd rather have for metal rhythm.

See what kinds of guitars I like with my JBs? Pretty different from the SG. I'd probably rather have a 500T ceramic in something like that.
