does the JB-4 model humbucker have good harmonics

Re: does the JB-4 model humbucker have good harmonics

Can, but doesn't have to. Jackson picks it as their go-to bridge pickup for a reason: it kicks all kinds of ass in those 25.5" maple-necked superstrats, Vs, etc. I can't think of anything else I'd rather have for metal rhythm.

See what kinds of guitars I like with my JBs? Pretty different from the SG. I'd probably rather have a 500T ceramic in something like that.

JB sounded like loose ass in my Jackson soloist. JB sounded like heaven in a vintage Kramer Baretta though. If you dont hear the loose bottom, there is somethign wrong with ya or, you have not played enough stuff to know what is what.

Re: does the JB-4 model humbucker have good harmonics

I don't have as much experience with some of these pickups as the others do; I've only tried the JB in 25.5" and longer scale guitars. I would listen to the others when it comes to a JB in on a Gibson scale; listen to Theodie.

That said, I have a faded Flying V with the stock ceramics; to me it's the perfect blend of midrange punch and bite for rock and classic metal. If you could get a similar sound by putting those pickups or something like them in an SG-type guitar, it would be really versatile. I get together with another guitarist and a bass player a few times a month to play all kinds of rock and metal, and that Flying V is all I ever take.

Maybe I like the loose bottom end. Did your Soloist have a floating trem? The one that I like so much is a hardtail, and it doesn't sound anything like my Floyd-equipped Soloist, which is pretty loose indeed.

Re: does the JB-4 model humbucker have good harmonics

it may be worth noting that some people find the SH-5 and C5 to be bland and generally overrated

and they're probably JB players

EDIT - no offense intended odie, i think we just like different things in tone

Re: does the JB-4 model humbucker have good harmonics

And how. My only regret in all this is that I don't have the time and money to try everything. I've found a few things that knock my socks off, and I'm happy to tell others about them, if it seems to be what they're looking for.

Re: does the JB-4 model humbucker have good harmonics

What pickups are in there now?

Re: does the JB-4 model humbucker have good harmonics

Hmm. Interesting. I'm guessing you want... to... rawk?
This is how I rock with Gibson:

ceramic

kickin' it old-school

Hell, you can rock an A2 Pro HB in the bridge; it will do harmonics.

Re: does the JB-4 model humbucker have good harmonics

They are a hundred trillion dollars each. Actually, it depends on where you get them and whether they happen to be on sale, as well as whether you get metal covers, and what color the metal covers are. $80 to $140 each, ballpark.

Try the ebay store banjomikes, That guy has thousands of them, in all colors and configurations. It is mindblowing!! Blue/pink invader, no problem, green/yellow custom, no problem. The list goes on!
