Does the Stag-mag work well for B-standard tuning?

I´m going to fit my alder (or basswood) bodied Jackson guitar with new pickups, and I already decided that I am going to try the Custom/59 hybrid in bridge position. Since I love single coils in neck position I was thinking about getting the Stag-mag in neck position. But my guitar is tuned to B-standard, so the question is:

will the Stag-mags be able to pick up the low B-string well?

(I dont play djent).

Honestly, I've never heard it used for that tuning. Anyone else?

Briefly, though I remember I didn't love it in that tuning.

It found home in a maple boarded Charvel Model 4 which may have been a mutt for ages until it died in my house fire way back when. I always keep meaning to pick another one up (same guitar and pickup), but I wouldn't put it in the downtuned category.

I think you'd be better off with your first idea of the Custom/59 hybrid; it'll get you closer to where you want to go (I remembered you don't djent...neither do I... terrible thing to do!)

My favorite downtuned pickup remains either the Black Winter or some flavour of EMG 81. It depends if coil tapping is important to you. It is on my main gigging axe, which is why I use the BW in that. But most of my detuned 6 strings have EMGs.

I have a Stag Mag-like pickup (an Alnico-pole ~10k humbucker of different make.) I don't down-tune, but as it is it handles bass with a tight, but less-than-full frequency response.

Try Alumitones; just came away very impressed with a seven string.

That's relevant; I just installed a Demon, but have not tried to split it. It is a very single-coil sounding pickup on both coils, but it doesn't get the magnet-pole signature Fender twang, and there's no reason I'd think it would do it when split; you won't get that with anything short of something like the Stag Mag or similar, IMO.

I do love my Demon, and it may capture enough scooped, bright Alnico single vibe for most people. It has solid, tight bass, not sure it's optimal for the down-tuned thing but it can sound pretty epic in drop D with the right settings.
