Does the Twin Reverb take fuzz pedals well ?

Re: Does the Twin Reverb take fuzz pedals well ?

It might just be the speaker complement but I don't hear the similarities between a Bassman and a Super.

Oh and yes Bassman amps only came in heads after 1960.

Re: Does the Twin Reverb take fuzz pedals well ?

ok I actually have a 70s pro reverb at a local shop so I might try to do a trade there if I try it out and like it

Re: Does the Twin Reverb take fuzz pedals well ?

Do you need the headroom of a Twin.?
The Bassman head will have more than that Pro 2x12. THAT is what a lot of people like about the Pro however.
On the other hand...a popular "mod" for the Pro is to install a Bassman Out Tranny...and get the biger/cleaner frequency response.
If you think you need the headroom of a Twin...you can look for a Silver Face Dual Showman. That circuit had the Twin style reverb tank.
Lots of options actually.
IF it were me...I would do as suggested above. Get a SF Bassman...bring it up to snuff...and by a Holy Grail...or one of the other modern...and very effective and pleasing Verb Pedals.
No right or wrong...just depends on your needs and likes.
good luck :)

Yeah, I don't think the headroom of the Twin is a good idea for you. You want enough headroom to give the fuzz room to breathe at gigging volumes, but not so much that you can't get the amp breaking up on its own. IMO

I 2nd that statement !

Re: Does the Twin Reverb take fuzz pedals well ?

why is everyone obsessed with having the amp breaking up these days? Twins are designed not to. Players who don't understand that don't understand twins.

I like small amps and how they spit and snarl and do all those cool things you get with power tube saturation, but i also appreciate the beauty of an amp that holds together and roars out pure unsaturated tones at gig volumes too, one that can handle as much fuzzy lows as you throw at it and it just gets bigger and meaner. As in all things in life, its horses for courses.

Question: Does the Twin Reverb take fuzz pedals well ?

Answer: yes.

True, they are designed for clean headroom, but you're missing something huge if you haven't made a Twin cry.

"She takes just like a woman, but she breaks just like a little girl."

Answer: yes.

most of my amps are under 30w and the ones i use most are 12w or 22w. i love the way the 12w breaks up and compresses and the 22w has just the right amount of volume for most of my gigs when its slightly dirty and adding an od makes it sing.

there is nothing like the power of 85w of four big bottles thru 2x12. its a magical thing. i have a '69 dual showman reverb which is a twin in a head and run it thru a 2x12 vibroking cab. clean it sounds amazing, full tight focused lush bold rich and warm. dirty its loud as hell, like LOUD, huge bottom end. totally impractical but lots of fun.

Re: Does the Twin Reverb take fuzz pedals well ?

like you i use a 22 watter (princeton reverb II) for most gigs, but i would hate to go without the 85watter as well (mine's a 69 also) for a lot of stuff. There is nothing like it.

Re: Does the Twin Reverb take fuzz pedals well ?

what would be a better purchase though a silverface twin reverb or a Twin reverb reissue 65?
