Does this look like a 90s Jazz?

Wow, it's been a long time since I last posted... over ten years.

I acquired this pickup the other day on Yahoo Auctions Japan. The seller didn't know what model it was, and I bid on it with a hunch it was a Jazz.

It arrived yesterday, and the resistance checks out at 7.5kΩ. I've installed it already, but don't have a good enough ear to identify it by sound alone. I've noticed a few things that might help date and identify it:

1. The baseplate sticker is missing, but there's a trace of where it had previously been. It looks like it was in the same place where the sticker is located on my '94-ish JB, but the missing sticker appears to have been twice as long.

2. The baseplate looks like that of my JB, except for the second row of six punched holes under where the slugs are (but not protruding). Does this help date it? The '59s I've seen don't have that second row of holes under the slugs. The exit hole for the wires up in the corner is also perfectly round. The legs are short, so I'm guessing it's a neck model.

3.There's no logo on the bobbin, but it may be because it was originally covered. There's a blob of solder indicating there was a cover attached at some point, but I don't know whether it was an original cover or an aftermarket cover added later.

Any ideas?

EDIT: Now I'm wondering whether it might not be an APH-1n, which appears to have had a longer ID sticker than the Jazz.

Probably a Jazz from 80s or 90s. It isnt a '59 because of the color of the insulation. No paper tape, plus.

So do you figure it has to be either a Jazz or a '59? I'm wondering whether there's a chance it's an APH-1n, like the one pictured below. The APH-1n has a long sticker, which seems to match the residue and outline of the missing sticker on my mystery pickup.

Very well could be an A2Pro. Biggest difference between the Jazz & A2Pro is the magnet.

Also, can confirm, late-80s to mid-90s timeline is right for this one.

You are right. It could be Jazz or A2P since they share same bobbins. If i were you i would try to measure its magnetic field density with a gaussmeter on top of the pole pieces. A5 generally higher than the A2. But magnets could be degaussed so this mathod can also fail.

Hmm. How about removing the tape and see if there is a marking on the magnet? Because Duncan bar magnets have blue or black marking on the side of them. This way we may figure it out if it is alnico 2 or not?

if you loosen the brass screws on the bottom, you can slide the magnet out. a black sharpe mark on the side of the magnet means a5, a blue sharpe mark means a2

Sometimes wax and the soldered coil wires are in the way. You can scrape some of the wax off, and be very careful pushing the coil wires to the side.
