Does this sound odd, a Phat Cat P90 and a JB

In my new Warmoth partscaster Tele build my latest pickup love is the Phat Cat P90 in the neck and an Ant JB in the bridge.
It's an alder body with a maple neck and ebony fretbpard.
Does this combo sound odd, am i losing it...

If you like it roll with it. Lots of guitars mix singles with humbuckers. The pickups will sound drastically different, but that is a desired effect for lots of people, including myself at times.

The interesting thing will be how they sound together.

At first it was questionable but after hearing them together it sounds really good in the middle position.
After receiving the Warmoth body that is routed out for two humbuckers my neck pickup choice has changed, I found that I prefer single coils in the neck position so my first thought was to try the Phat Cat I had laying around so I wouldn't have to mod the guitar body.
I wasn't sure about the N/A2 and a B/A5 mix but it turned out sounding really good.

Basically you have paired two high inductance PU's: I don't find it odd personally.

And I wouldn't worry about A5b / A2n: I've got this in P.A.F. replicas as well as A2b/A5n and the difference in positions / height settings masks the difference of AlNiCo's as long as the PU's have close LR specs ; a low inductance bridge + high inductance neck PU would be more tricky to master, as illustrated for instance by the mini-hum's in a Guild Starfire RI...

Anyway and even if I was finding it odd: who cares as long as you like it? Enjoy! ;-)

I'm not seeing an issue at all. The Phat Cat is warm, fat, juicy, and the antiquity JB is brighter, cleaner, with more cut. I think that's a combination that works really well. I see a hum/p90 combination often. I'm not expecting a 'true' singlecoil voice of that pickup, at all, but for what it does, it does it oh so well.

There will be a volume difference between the 2, but that's not a big deal. Some people even like that volume difference as it would be a boost when you select the bridge pickup. The Phat Cat is more vintage-y than a JB, with a lot less compression, too.

Like was said, if it sounds good to you that's all that matters.
My preference would be to replace the JB with a C/59 Hybrid or a C5 or a Quarter Pound.

I do have a C/59 laying around as well, maybe I'll give it a shot and see what the two sound like together.
