Dog Ear vs. Regular P-90

Are these built the same under thier covers, or do dog ear P-90s not have the screw holes through the pickup. I've never taken the cover off of a dog ear before.

Re: Dog Ear vs. Regular P-90

As far as I've ever been able to tell they are built exactly the same. The soapbar is a cover just like a dog ear is. My old 330 P90s have an additional bracket that the screw goes through, but it is a hollow guitar and I think that the bracket is particular to hollowbodies.

They are the same coil under the pickup cover, but the baseplate is differant. "Dog Ear" P-90's cannot be adjusted for height though and modern "Soapbar" P-90's can. Lew

No height adjust on Dog Ears? That Sux! Unless they got it right the first time! :laugh2: I was just looking at these at Wildwood's site and wondered about that. They're Nice but Pricey IMO.

Re: Dog Ear vs. Regular P-90

Height adjustment on the P-90s is not that big a deal, my Axis has direct-mount P-90s, no problems there.
