Doing another one: LTD M-1000

Bought this new a couple years ago. It's not as playable as the guitars I have done myself, so its time for a level/crown/polish.

The neck is basically very good, except there is a slight swell on the low E and A strings around frets 5-10, so I've been keeping the action a touch higher than I would like on the bass side.

I like to sharpie and level before taping, this way I can string it up and test that the action is perfect everywhere. Once I've verified that its playing optimally, I will tape and crown/dress.

That's very pretty! I love it when the 1000 series isn't all covered in abalone.

Also like the streaky board. Is that Ebony?

Need to lower the nut on this guitar. Two options, file the nut shelf or grind down the nut? I've filed the nut shelf before, but I want to do the nut on this one.

I bought a belt sander to make this job easy. It's a tool I've wanted for a long time, now I finally had an excuse to buy one.

Also, the back of the floyd nut says "BR3". Is that brass, radius 3? I bet different nuts (say one from a FRS) would sound different. I haven't paid attention to the nut material on my Floyds, but I bet there are different versions.
