Doing some research on a MIJ Strat. (Circa late '80's)

Re: Doing some research on a MIJ Strat. (Circa late '80's)

There is nothing I see that suggests that the neck and body do not match, and there are plenty of things that suggest they do match. If people are saying this because the neck is all maple, they are barking up the wrong tree. As mentioned before, these were not the most accurate of reissues. There were definitely, no question about it, maple necked hardtail models with three-ply guards and 3TSB. And it being a hardtail pretty much assures that the body is from the same date range as the serial number. The routs look like FujiGen's routs (very distinctive, if you have seen enough of them), as does the neck pocket (again, pretty distinctive). So you've got a neck and a body that are both from the same factory at about the same, put together in a way that those guitars were definitely put together. That is not conclusive proof that they originally came together, but there is not even a hint of evidence that they did not.

I know I dont need to say it, but I will.. Homemade relic = FAIL! Moving on, I probably cant provide any valuable input that hasnt already been given. I will only state what you already know is that these Japanese made Fenders are hot as Wasabi. I have a 1988 Japanese Squier Strat and love it.

I have a 1992 Squier Silver Series - Wayne's World edition (only differences are basswood body and "Wayne's World" neckplate). The more I play this thing, the more I love it. It took me a while to jell with it, but now that I've tweaked it a bit, I love it more and more.

Those are some of the nicest Strats available for a decent price (going up all the time, though) Oh, and every "Wayne's World" strat I've picked up has been very nice, too. One of these very nearly became my first guitar, (until my Dad found out they were Japanese...eye roll) I clearly remember there being one hardtail at the store among all the tremolos, I passed it up too, cause kids gotta have that wang bar. But I for sure would have picked it now! Plus the hardtail was SB but I wanted a colored one. Anyway that's a nice guitar, no matter what the finish looks like now.
