Don't bid on this '59 Burst

Re: Don't bid on this '59 Burst

And let's be serious - who out there loves their brother more than a guitar like that? I mean really now - blood is thicker than water, but it's not thicker than the neck of a 59 burst...

If I'm on my death bed and either angels or demons are willing to get one of my kids to swap my 79 LP for my life, the truest sign of my love for them would be to NOT let them give up the guitar! I'm gonna die someday anyway, but that guitar has more music in it than any one person.

As far as the Les Paul Model on the headstock, if I remember right, some repaired headstocks were like that.

That headstock looks way too skinny. Almost as skinny as those melody maker headstocks. And there's no serial number or "Made In USA" on the back on the headstock. :wrf:

The Les Paul Model screen used to be applied on top of the clear coat. A good cleaning and polish could have removed it.

As skinny as the headstock appears, it's nowhere as near as skinny as a Melody Maker headstock, and the Made in the USA stamp didn't appear until 1969.

The big red flag for me is the missing "Les Paul Model" logo on the headstock. Do those fade naturally?
This is a "real" one from 59 sold by gruhn guitars, compare it yourself :)
