Don't drink and mod

Beer and soldering irons.......a deadly combination.

i was at my friend's house trying to fix the Hot Rails in his Squier...apparently I had wired something wrong the first time and the volume pot was completely non-functional. So using my memory banks (ha) and my Warmoth for comparison (haha) i wired everything and -- surprise! -- NO SOUND. Well there's a LITTLE sound, with the pup volume dimed and his amp's volume high we could barely hear those Rails.

All my connections seemed sound and i wired it the same as the bridge humbucker in my Warmoth...so what do you guys think happened?

did you spill beer on the hot rails? check all the solder joints to make sure they are on correctly and are good.

I got no idea, but I can remember the time I burned a spot in our dining room on the wood floor with my soldering iron. Daughter had a party at the house a week earlier. Blamed it on her friends smoking.

check your grounds make sure you have good connections

did you wire the volume or tone knobs with the wrong lugs? make sure you check a good diagram, like from stewmac or the seymour duncan site and make sure the pots arent wired backwards.

dont forget to check the cable too - i remember when i got my first guitar, i took out the screws in the scratchplate (but without taking the scratchplate off) to get out some of the covering that comes with a new pickguard. after i put them back in, i plugged the guitar in and no sound, i thought id damaged the 'electronics' inside the guitar, but it was actually just the cheap cable that mustve gone while i was doing it :laugh2:
