Doom pickups

Understanding that there are multiple right answers…which Duncan pickups are your favorite for doom metal/stoner rock? Thanks!!

If it were me, I'd probably put a JB in the neck.

You could also go for an El Diablo to keep the same look or something like the Wes Hauch "Jupiter" if you want more clarity.

Otherwise, ask the Custom Shop if they can do a custom "neck" version to go with the Slug bridge!

:)

Maybe a "wrong answer", but the best Black Sabbath-y tones I've ever gotten have come from an old DiMarzio PAF (the discontinued one, not the PAF Pro or any others in that line) in the *neck* position of my B.C. Rich Beast.

Could just go for a straight Slug-Slug setup and increase the versatility through wiring (i.e. coil split, parallel, etc)

Any favorite choices for a matching neck pickup?

Yeah, the Invader pairs up really well with the SLUG actually if you're looking for something that's a regular production line option.
Otherwise, it could be really cool to get them to make you a matching SLUG neck pickup for sure.
That pickup just has sustain for days, it's almost ludicrously powerful but surprisingly not as difficult to manage as I thought it'd initially be.

I'd go with something low output for doom. You don't want really tight bass, pronounced upper mids or extreme clarity. Most doom tones come from the amp and fuzz pedals.

Try a WLH set or 59's.

It’s more about the rest of the chain than the pickups. Anything coming out of a maxed out fuzz sounds the same.
