Hello Everyone,
It’s been a bit since I’ve been around, but I have some extra pickups that have been laying around for years that I have just not been using, so they should go to someone who will use and enjoy them. Every pickup I’m selling here has Double Cream Bobbins except for the Saturday Night Special, which is Zebra. Several of these are custom winds from MJ or Seymour….All in very good condition. I will cover Con US shipping on all purchases. If you need references, I have dealt with more members than I can recall here over the years. I can provide names if you wish. I will post pics in the next post, to keep this from being too long.
I have these pickups listed on several sites, so I will go by time of message stating you want to buy one or a set, if two people are wanting to buy the same pickup(s). That is the fairest way I know.
**Also, don't be afraid to make me an offer on something. People are asking and getting stupid prices for these Double Cream pickups, so I tried to price them very fairly.
Brobucker Bridge – This one is special. It is from the original run of Brobuckers way back before this was a standard Custom Shop pickup, 20 years or so I think. I am the original owner. It has been installed but has full length leads. Double Cream bobbins. 10K output with an aged A5 magnet, 4 wire lead, Short Legs. Wound by either Seymour or MJ. $175
Custom Wound APH II humbucker from the 2005 Forum Meetup at the SD Factory. It has an aged A2 magnet and is wound to around 9.1K, 4 wire lead, Double Cream bobbins. I don’t have a multi-meter any longer, so I can’t give an exact measurement. Has great tone and a smooth but clear top end. Sort of like a 78’, but with more bass, IMO. Wound by MJ, Long Legs. $150
SH-16 – 59’/Custom Hybrid. Standard humbucker other than the Double Cream Bobbins. 4 wire lead, short legs. $175
APH – 1N – Alnico II Pro Humbucker. This was a shop floor custom, back in the days when you could order the bobbins in any color you wanted. I’ve had it in quite a few guitars, and it sounds fantastic. I have another complete set, so this is just the odd man out. $175
SH-PG1N – Pearly Gates Neck Humbucker, A2 magnet. This was also a shop floor custom from back in the day, Double Cream bobbins. Long 4 wire lead, Short Legs. $175
Saturday Night Special (B) – Standard Zebra bridge pickup with short legs, 4 wire lead. $75
ZhangBucker - BrownBucker bridge pickup. 9.2K, A2 Magnet, Double Cream bobbins. This is his Pure Handwound version, so it has a great custom wound vibe to it. Very VH sounding if you can play like that. Sadly, I cannot. $210 new (according to his site). $175
‘Vic’ Set – This is a custom wound set I bought over at TGP about 20 years ago ‘ish. They are A2 humbuckers wound to sound like the Slash Set. Double Cream bobbins, Vintage Braided wire, long legs. B=8.59K, N=8.02K. I have a set of the first run of the “Slash” Pickups from SD, and it’s hard to tell the difference between the 2 sets for me. They are really nicely wound and will be a great set for anyone looking for “that” sound. $200
ReWind Electric – Double Cream Bobbins, Aged A2 Magnets, Vintage Braided Wire, Long Legs. James used to call this his “Low Wind” set, but he does not call them that anymore, because he said the name was misleading (if I recall correctly). I think he now calls them his 1960 A2 PAF set. It’s best to go to his website to see all the specs listed, it is very detailed. These pickups sound just like vintage A2 pickups from the 50’s and 60’s. I simply don’t have enough guitars for all the pickups I have, and I have SD Custom Shop sets in all of my main guitars. My set is wound as follows. B=8.6K, N=7.1K. I don’t believe James is taking any new orders currently, and when he is a set usually starts at about $850! My Price = $500
