Double Cream Seth Got Munched By My Possum

Well, the title kinda says it all, but...

Not sure if I have shared this here, but I rescued a baby possum back in June. He mainly lives outside in his pen, but he has an indoor pen too, for when it rains (as it has been doing the last few days). I let him roam, supervised, in a couple of contained places in the house, including on my bed. They need to get their ya-yas out by stretching their legs, or else they get physically and mentally unhealthy. We take walks several times a week (with a harness and a lead), and he rides my shoulders for miles at a time too.

I forgot I had the pickup sitting on the built in shelf on my headboard, blocked by a pillow. He snuck under the pillow really quickly, and the little booger went straight for the coolest and most expensive thing on the shelf (of course). Once they get a hold of something they want to chew, it's no fun trying to get it back. Having some past experience with doing so, I managed to do it successfully before the pickup got terribly mangled, but not before it got scarred for life.

Oh well. It's only money, I guess...and I was planning on putting a cover on it anyhow (though I bought it because I wanted the option of uncovering it in the future).

Underwhelming damage.... won't be visible from several feet away

Or at all without glasses/contacts

That's a great story, right there. I have some bites on the headstock of my Strat from my cat attacking it. I was upset at first, but now I like telling that story.

Possum'Bucker ®

Pretty sure i won't be able to go forward as a guitar player now without a George Jones signature guitar and sending my pickups in to ItsaBass for my genuine set of Possum'Buckers

My '90 Strat has chew marks on the headstock. (not mine) :D

He got the headstock of my Jazz Bass too, several months ago. Two tiny holes in the lacquer on each side of the head.

16 post in and still no pics of the possum.

What the hell?

Bummer but honestly I think a slightly possum-chewed pickup is a pretty amazing thing to have!
