Filtertron magnets are 1/4 inch thick A5s. They are 2 1/4 inches long though. Not long enough for 7 string humbuckers incase anybody is looking. But they will make contact with 6 string humbucker poles. https://www.philadelphialuthiertool...net-2-25-x-5-x-25-viintage-filtertron-pickup/

Makes me wonder what a Distortion or JB would sound like with a double A5.

^ Outstanding. I had a double A5 in a Distortion and it really did the modern classic wind justice instead of just fizz. I have a double A8 in my Distortion/Custom hybrid right now and also in my JB/Super D hybrid (which is homeless).

So a Distortion with a double A5 is pretty much a double A5 JB right? Is it just a JB that’s got more output or does the eq actually change? I wish there were sound examples.

No, you can hear the difference between DD and JB winds. And yes the eq changes. It makes it fuller and deeper.
