
They were made in the late 90s, and I believe in the early 2000s for a while too. It seems like they sought to compete with PRS.
And PRS didn't originally copy Gibson? Nothing orginal about any PRS designs.
Hehe, of course G invented the d/c shape. What I mean is that a combination of certain features like the 24 frets, simplified controls, maple/mahogany in a d/c shape was something G responded to.
You're splitting hairs, my friend. PRS are a flat out copy; the 24 fret thing in a body that someone else designed, using woods someone else combined, is hardly an innovation. Dumbing down the controls ('simplified') doesn't help the situation. The wave they've ridden has a lot to do with status and their pursuit of endorsees.
