I'm about to start building my own doubleneck Strat completely from scratch, and I'm at the stage of drawing up the router template for the body. I'm wanting to have the two necks parallel as opposed to the Warmoth style where the 12 string neck would be higher up than the 6 string neck. The way that I've drawn it up means that there would be less body wood to the left hand side of the 6 string neck - is this stilll going to be enough support? There's still going to be wood all the way up the left hand side of it like on a normal strat, except the wood won't be as bulky as ususal.
Here's a rough mockup from MS Paint - it'd be more contoured than this, and this is just a 6 string strat doubled up, but you get the idea:
