the III clip gets my vote for sure
why does it seen to have more volume and presence?
were they in the same guitar and amp? same heights for the pup?

Yes the alnico3 sound better .
The alnico2 accentuate the mids at around 500 kz so much that they loose the percussion thing , the punch , and bass strings are flabby and the presence ( high mids) is rolled off .

After listening to Doc Barlo's clips, I swaped the A2 in my CC for an A3. The A3 CC sounds a lot like an A2 CC, except that there is slightly more lows and highs, and the mid-peak is shifted slightly upward. My overall impression is that the A3 CC (C3?) has less output, but I guess with some amps the extra bass could give the impression that is has more output than the CC.
