Rack gear (in case I ever decide to switch to a rack setup):
Bogner Fish preamp
Mosvalve power amp or a VHT
that Soldano Xsomething preamp
Matchless preamp (they're rare, but amazing from what I've gathered)

Amps:
Vox AC30HW (because it's the best Vox amp ever... nuff said)
Mojave Peacemaker (classic plexi tone in it's own right)
Bogner Ecstasy 100B (best multichannel amp around)
Tophat Club Deluxe (just killer cleans)
A.E.R. AcousticubeIIa (for acoustic tones)
Matchless Chieftain probably or a Savage Blitz amp

Guitars:
1955 Gretsch White Falcon
Grosh Bent Top Custom
Grosh Tele
Grosh P90
PRS McCarty with Tom Holmes humbuckers
vintage Fender Jaguar
vintage Fender Jazzmaster
Larrivee highend jumbo acoustic electric
some kind of baritone guitar to mess around with

Re: Dream rig/sig

I've got my dream rig...it all came together in the last year.

After searching for 30 years for a Tele with the tone of my '51 Tele I found it by installing a Jerry Donahue bridge pickup in one of my Teles.

My buddy Rondo traded me his lightweight super resonant '00 Les Paul 1959 CS and I put a set of Tom Holmes pickups in that guitar...so I'm covered there. Had to let him have my '53 tweed Super but that's OK: I have a '51 just like Billy Gibbons!

I found the Hendrix tone I've been searching for a few months ago when I bought a Fulltone Clyde Wah and '69...those are the ultimate in better than vintage wah wah and fuzzface design.

Found a nice early 70's Echoplex, mid 80's Ratt like Jeff Beck's and a clean MIJ Boss DS-1.

My '63 Strat is sounding great these days...as is my Monoco Super Pro with Seth Lover & Custom Custom.

As for amps, I've got that covered too. I found a real '59 Fender tweed Bassman last year...and still have my '70 Marshall 50 watt too.

I like to play in stereo through 20 watt Fender amps and I've got two Deluxe Reverbs and two 5E3 Deluxes.

I lucked into six Celestion Silver Bulldogs from the 60's with original cones...those are now in all of my tweed Deluxes.

I found a '53 Gibson Southern Jumbo just like the Everly Brothers used to record Wake Up Little Suzie, and still havemy Taylor and Martin. So I gave away my old Ovation Custom Balladeer to the monks and nuns at the Deer Park Monestery.

I have my lap steels together: some old Bakelite Rickenbachers and a Silver Hawaiian and some Supros, Silvertones and Airlines.

I sold off all the stuff I wasn't playing ( six Hamers ) and found a Fender Custom Shop '53 Tele with larger frets and 9.5" fingerboard radius...AND it's actually lighter and sounds better and plays better than my old '54 Tele.

The one ax I still have a jones over is the National TriCone Resonator guitar. I'd still like to have one of those. But I don't need it: I have a real nice 1930 National Style O like Mark Knopfler's already.

So I'm feeling pretty blessed these days...but you know what: none of that stuff will make you happy if you're not. :smack: It's just stuff.

Re: Dream rig/sig

I tend to agree with Lew. I've been playing a long time and have collected quite a nice selection of equipment/instruments. I guess the only thing I would like to have would be maybe this new Fender 57 twin I've been reading about. I don't know if I will like it, but I am very happy with the gear I am currently using! Gibson & fender guitars... Fender and Marshall Amps. I have a few pedals, but not a lot. I would like to get some good recording gear though!!

Re: Dream rig/sig

Guitars:

Hamer Monaco Elite
PRS Custom 22
Fender American Strat
Gibson Les Paul Custom
Gibson SG Standard
Fender American Tele

Amps:

Fender Twin
Marshall 2204
Mesa Dual Recto
Bogner Ecstasy 101b
Vox AC30
Matchless combo of some sort
Marshall Plexi

Stomp Boxes:
A bunch of bosses, ts808, tonebones... the works

Re: Dream rig/sig

I'm not entirely sure what I want these days. I love my 2555, but the versatility leaves a lot to be desired. I've been thinking of a rack setup (3 tube ADA MP-1 w/ VHT 2/50/2) but I'm not sure on this either. I suppose once I find the right preamp I may go that route...

Lew, pls tell me, how do you measure the impedance of a fingerboard ?? I do want to know... thanks for sharing your knowledge... :reporter:

Re: Dream rig/sig

I have great heads (50W 1985 JCM800 + Rivera Knucklehead), and a great rack system (Engl preamp + Marshall EL34 100/100) ... two 4x12's, and some great guitars.

Can't really think of anything GAS-realted I might want, other than to finish my Kamikaze 4 project; leaning more towards recording gear GAS now: new Neumann or BLUE mic, and sweet mic pre, like a vintage Neve ...

Re: Dream rig/sig

well i am really close to my dream rig already.

I have my bluesbird and that takes care of the les paul like guitar
i have two teles with one on the way and they all have vintage type single coils so i have a lot of the tele tones nailed
i have my strat with with antiquities.
All i need is a 58/59 gibson reissue and a p90 equiped les paul and i will be set for electrics.

as for the amps well, i have my soldano but i would like an orange amp and a matchless and i like to keep them pretty small, 50 watts and under.

as for pedals, i need to get a boost and a fuzz and i think that is all i really want.

oh yeah i forgot one thing. I really would like a benedetto jazz guitar to play. I love the sound of a real jazz box and they feel even better.
