FRFR cabs are tough. Either you have to spend serious $$ for an Atomic or Friedman, or you have to use a cheaper one with some sort of EQ (they are never really flat). I am using a set of Mackie powered speakers for onstage monitoring. Not flat at all, but I can EQ them to work well.

Re: Drive Pedal Madness!!!!!! Palladium??

....you are not helping!! hahahahaha trying to research some FRFR cabs now but not getting any feedback.....

Hi Undone. Unless you are using cab sim, FRFR isn't going to serve your purposes well. If you are considering going with one of the drive pedals, I would suggest pairing it with PowerStage 170 and go straight to a guitar cab. If you want to record, perhaps go with the PowerStage 700, which can go to the guitar cab, or line out with cab sim built in.

I'm totally biased, but I think Palladium is hands down the best sounding amp-in-a-box. YMMV. In either case, PowerStage might be a good bet.

Re: Drive Pedal Madness!!!!!! Palladium??

I appreciate all of the feedback. I actually took a step back and picked up another Yamaha THR10(X this time)because I find that line of amps always motivates me to play so much more. It's a little bedroom bandit and has zero chance of hanging with any acoustic drums but the sound for practice is always inspiring. In all reality I'll probably never need a gig worthy setup at my age ( 49 ). Pretty sure my gigging and touring days are over at this point and I pretty much live in BFE so little chance of random jam sessions breaking out haha.. Thanks again for the support!

Re: Drive Pedal Madness!!!!!! Palladium??

Sorry to revive a dead post, but how did the CM Plexitone work out for you? I had one years back and while I wasn't crazy about it all by itself, when used in a mix either recorded or with the band it was incredible. I'm going to be trading a Bugera 333 combo for a 5150 OD tomorrow and I'm hoping that it will sound good. Not trying to sound like Eddie, just trying to sound good at lower volumes. If I had MONEY, I'd get the Palladium (did you try that one?), but this Bugera has been sitting since it's new, no interest from local ads, and too expensive to ship. I'm basically trading something I never use and takes up a lot of space for potentially something I may never use, but takes up hardly any space and can be shipped easily if I don't like it, lol.
