DS-1 Modding

Just got a stock DS-1, now it's time to let it shine. To anybody who likes these pedals, what would you say is the best way to go about modding them? I know of Monte Allum, but I don't know of any others to stack up against that. I heard that DS-1's are commonly modded to get a marshally sound or a tubescreamer sound. I'd really like a pedal that can give something like a marshall crunch, but the tubescreamer route would be ok.

Easiest, and one of the best: PM forum bro Stratdeluxer. (John) He does a killer job of beefing it up a bit and giving it some more cojones.

Joe who mods the pedals is a member both here and on sevenstring.org (LordovChaos). I have an SD-1 he modded for me(Chaos mod+Guinees Mod+switch) and it is easily the best sounding OD i've ever owned.
So considering what he can do to an SD-1 you might want to check out his Mods for the DS-1.

Yeah, never tried one of your pedals(might be because i'm not in the US). Joe developed his mods with an Engl Powerball as the amp to try them on and that's quite handy for me since both my Engls turned out to be picky about drive pedals, so a pedal designed with an Engl as a the reference amp is great since it will definitely sound great in front of one ;)
Also the deal i got on the pedal was sweet(in the end i payed only 5€ more for it than a stock SD-1 would cost) and i couldn't pass on it.

If you send me one of your modded pedals for free i can do a shootout for you :beerchug:

I've modded close to a 100 pedals over about the last 5 years or so...Built up quite a reputation on the forums, though I've slowed it way down! Some of the guys that are modding pedals, are people who's pedals I modded for them..There are several reviews under the search function about my pedals and guys have done A/Bs etc..also...

I just felt out of the pedal mod loop with your post, but again I realize you didn't know me...I don't know you either...It's all cool and I'm just rambling on really! :1::1:

The only reason I spoke out is because I feel like you hi-jacked the thread on Artie, myself, and Shawn....Again no big deal really! You could always do a seperate plug for Joelap?

I'm not positive, but it seems I've modded pedals for Joe?

No, you got it worng ;)
His Nick is LordovChaos both here and on sevenstring.org(though he's not really active here), but his real name is Joe. He's not Joelap, so i guess you didn't mod something for him.

I know you have a great reputation here, but since you were already mentioned i thought i might add another recommendation based on my personal experience.
I guess his mods and yours are quite different since LordpfChaos seems more geared towards high gain metal and droptuned applications.

I see.....Depends on what pedal we're talking about cause I mod alot of different overdrive and distortion pedals? I've even had to custom mod Tube Screamers for the guys that really hear things like Lew on the forums..:1:

Didn't want you to take offense or anything,as I said,I felt sought of out of the loop and my prices are actually low....Forum members have told me they are too low! I've kept the mod prices down for the forum "brothers".....I've done a slew of pedals and modded Tube Screamers several years ago that I sold on E Bay before joining the forum and all.....I got so busy at times that I had to take a break from it,plus it drove me to having to wear glasses..:1:

Anyway...Thanks for posting and clarification.
