hi guys!
you have never tried the Ds-1pro modified by Analogman?
I know that modifies also the Ts-9 and a lot of other pedals.
I would like to buy the ds-1 pro.

Re: ds-1 pro modified

there have been many posts about DS1's lately. But i never understand if you guys are talking about the DS1 distortion or the Overdrive? or maybe both, i dunno, lol.

Re: ds-1 pro modified

but how many kinds of modifications exist of the Ds1?
I knew only the Anal-ogman modification. What he changes between the Keeley Ultra and Sem modification.
hello john do also you make the modification to the Ds-1?

Hello there....Yes,I do the mods...Click on the link above or below this message and read some feedback from several forum members...Contact me if I can help via an instant message...The feedback you read from guys that already have the mods is the best I can give you about the mods for now.. My mod ideas are my own,so I really can't honestly tell you how many mods there are out there? I will tell you that the DS1 sounds great after I Mod it though...But I'm supposed to stay modest..LOL :smack:

Re: ds-1 pro modified

I can tell you that john's mod adds more bawlz to the the pedal's sound and gets rid of a lot of that "synth-like" unpleasantness that the pedal has stock, thus making it sound more natural (like an amp's overdrive). Not only that, but it comes with a cool new LED!

I gots the day off tomorrow... maybe I'll record a clip or two during the daytime (living in an apartment is a bit of a handicap in the "quest for tone").

But I recommend Mr. Stratdeluxer97, there... he's a swell dude, and definatly knows that pedal pretty, er, shall we say "intimately"? :D

Re: ds-1 pro modified

ok really thanks. I send you one e-mail to have further information I regard your modification.
now I go to bed because here in Italia it is 2 o'clock Am
bye thanks

Re: ds-1 pro modified

by the way, i finnished modding my ds-1, via indyguitarist

i did the evil mod, for $10 i got 4 different versions, thats instructions not parts

but basically, at low volumes, this thing is fat & creamy, seriously, its like a marlon brando milkshake. The mod gave it a lot more mids, and some nicer bottom end. But with a slightly overdriven tube amp, oh man, the thing SCREAMS, i love it, it seriously sounds like in-amp distortion, not like a fake pedal at all. Ds-1's are already good about that but yeah, definate improvement

ds-1 distortion by the way

That's very cool..Makes ya feel great when you can do stuff like this yourself, don't it?

A stock Taiwan made DS1 sounds like Ka Ka in my opinion...Too bright and fuzzy stuff rides all over your notes....Yucky! :smack:

Thanks to my buddy Chris for the DS1 mod info...Appreciate that alot...

Re: ds-1 pro modified

D4 Led
D5 Led
C2 1uf film
C10 .047 These two changes will give it more bass, and much more mids, basically making it a sd-1 where it left off.
C12 .047
Blue led For on/off light

theres the component chart for you strat, i figured you'd wanna know. The film was the only thing i had to order special, the only ones here in town were huge

See...I don't use LEDs because they add this fuzzy stuff over notes, especially as you turn up your drive settings...Keeley's SEM are based on LEDs and that pedal sounds very harsh to me...There's a ton of stuff you're leaving out in your DS1 mods, but that's what makes all modders different...It's very cool that you can do the work yourself because it's very easy to screw up the pcb...It takes some skill and patience, and good eyes...

Re: ds-1 pro modified

for me the LED's took out the glassy harshness

reccomend me a book or something to learn about this. I'd like to one day take a look at a board & know what does what, and what change will affect it

First you need a pretty good foundation of how basic electronics work and how to know when they don't....You need to learn the basics starting with resistors, capacitors, diodes,LEDs,ICs,schematic interpretation, transistors and the different types,opamps..This info is only specific to modding pedals though(Basic pedals at that)....Delays and time based effects are a nightmare and loaded with all soughts of chips and stuff jammed all over the boards....

After that..You would need to know how to interpret schematics and purchase what you could from people that sell them..

Lastly...Using your own ears and your learned knowledge, you literally go into the circuit and exchange or sub in other component and component values..No one actually teaches you any of this stuff...It's a aquired learning over a period of alot of years...Get on some websites and build something easy like a fuzz or overdrive unit from scratch...Learn to interpret the parts you use to how they relate to the schematic and what function the parts play in the overall circuit..There's alot to learn, but it can be learned...

i don't suppose you could link me to one of these sites?

But I'd save myself the brain drain and just send the pedal to John. You'll have more time left for playing... :) ...and John's already got it all figured out.

You're trying to learn what has taken me several years overnight..Your best bet is to get yourself into an electronics career oriented course...It's like learning how to play the guitar...You can't learn 30 years of 1 person's playing in 30 days...You see my point right? Sorry to come off sounding like a smart a$$,I'm not....For the small amount of money layout on your part,I'd gladly get your pedal all fixed up...After that,I guess you'd be copying my mods...That part I don't like, but it's life I guess....

Go to your library or do some searching under "learning electronics".....The stuff that I have that is geared towards the basics, isn't geared at all towards pedal and guitat modding...Lew's site is a great site,so check that out also..Sorry to say,but there are no easy roads with some of this stuff..

Re: ds-1 pro modified

i know, i'm not expecting to look at some websites & then just go build my ideal distortion unit tomorrow. I'm happy with my pedal now btw, thanks anyways

right now i'm looking for a DIY distortion kit with all the parts, schematics, info on what part does what, and alternatives to certain parts to alter the sound. Basically something to toy around with, i learn better when i have something to physically work with. Anyone know of such kits?

strat, i'm asking you to be my mentor thru all of this, as of now i'm seriously considering tech as a career, and i'm still in highschool so i guess now would be the perfect time to start

Realize for me this is just a hobby for the most part...I don't do this fulltime, though I've been modding pedals for several years...Sold a bunch on e bay 4 to 5 years ago or so? :smack:

Do a search under a guy and website named "JD Sleep" Also I think Small Bear Electronics sells kits...I've dealt with Steve and he's a great guy...
