Or get a 250/250 and a 500/500 from the same manufacturer, split them apart and combine the different halves so that you end up with two 250/500 pots.

There's also an official Fender 250k/500k stacked pot.

I wonder if you were to glue or solder the two together and grind down that top shaft to make it into one single knob, it a typical Tele knob would fit over and around the outer most ring.

Another approach to take that isn't quite as good with regard to the tapper, but would function similarly would be to put a trim pot between the center and pickup luck on the volume pot, which is only allowed to be in the circuit when you have your single coils selected, so that you can get a 250k pot's load while still having a 500k volume pot in the guitar. If you're the kind of guitarists who leaves the volume at 10 all the time, but wants the 500k load for a humbucker and 250k for singles, it would work perfectly.

I've got the concentric 250k/500k ones Drex has posted a picture of, on Strat copy, as well as my Epiphone G-1275, and I'm sure there were normal stacked versions on eBay when I was on the lookout.

Re: Dual 250K/500K volume potentiometer?

I just made my own dual gang 100K pot, but it took 3 different ones to accomplish. Started with a Fender TBX pot - 250K/1M and two 100K pots from some amplifier site, all pots were CTS 450 series used by Gibson and Fender since forever. Disassemble the TBX, toss the wafers, hammer down the center detent. Disassemble the other two, harvest the wafers, then install in TBX shell.

Re: Dual 250K/500K volume potentiometer?

If they do both turn at once, that eliminates the issue of 500K for hums and 250K for singles and a Master Tone. Now you'd have 2 volume and 2 tones on a Strat.

However, you'd lose the ability to blend pickup levels with the volume knob.

As for modding an existing dual-concentric, glue is too thin and would run into the casing before it built up enough to stick the shafts together, unless you did it in dots over a period of time. Build up the dots more and more as they harden until you've linked the two shafts.

Alternatively, you could tap another set-screw hole into a knob so it held both shafts.

Another option is to use a 250/250 stack for the tones and the independent knobs as separate volumes.

The guy in the demo is a cool player and seems to know what he is talking about. Still, how can you hear the tone of the pickups behind all of that echo?

Re: Dual 250K/500K volume potentiometer?

I think SD could do a stacked liberator for guys looking for an HSS or HSH configuration

Are you talking about the "CTS Dual Value Potentiometer 500k - 250k" on ebay, or the Fender concentric pot in the picture?
