Dumb question about the H&K tubemeister 18

Is the tubemeister 18 like a marshall 18-watter and the many clones, or does it just happen to be a british-voiced amp that is also 18 watts? Catch my drift?

Re: Dumb question about the H&K tubemeister 18

It's not really as loud as an 18w marshall if that's what you mean. I wouldn't really call it a Marshall sound. It's kind of a mix between a Marshall and Mesa Boogie in the way it's voiced. It's very warm. The clean channel is pretty clean and probably about 2/3 the loudness of the gain channel.

I see. Thanks. I'm kinda fascinated by the lore of a traditional 18-watter. Like maybe avatar's.

They don't share anything in common, as far as I know. But if you want an amp that's capable of a lot of tones, the H&K is a great little amp head. The 18W Marshall type amps are more of a one trick pony mini plexi type of vibe.....a great tone though.

That Budda 18W you talked about is a great contender.

Tubemeister definitely NOT like a 1974 or its clones.

The Tubemeister to me sounds more like a Vox and a Soldano had a baby. It is missing some fundamental midrange complexity and low mids of a Marshall.
