dumb question from an old fart

Re: dumb question from an old fart

For the builders out there:
How hard is it to convert from 25.5 scale to 24.75? 1=Banana Pie. 10=I would rather kill myself than have to do that.

I want to go to 25" ...... something like an Anderson Cobra but with the slightly more Fenderish scale.

shoot me.

Re: dumb question from an old fart

Well...What you could do is keep the bridge placement, move the nut forward to where it needs to be, remove the frets and fill them in along with fret dots, recut fret slots, refret the neck and inlay previous or new dots, and adjust intonation accordingly.

Scale of one to ten in "hard" level, one being easiest I'd give it a seven.

Scale of one to ten in "complete pain in the ass" level, one being none at all, I'd give it a ten.

What I mean is that USAG has a 25" conversion neck that I plan to try on a P-90 Tele(ish) guitar.

Re: dumb question from an old fart

Conversion necks are a different story, but I had a feeling that Chup was talking about converting an instrument without using a conversion neck.

Re: dumb question from an old fart

I was. I was asking what would happen if you slapped a jackson 24.75 neck on a fender.

OR you could make it fretless. That would solve the fret-intonation problem.

Re: dumb question from an old fart

Is there a source for bariton scale necks that have a regular truss rod?

Re: dumb question from an old fart

Oh, the Warmoths don't have their stupid side-adjusted double truss rod?

That "enhancement" is not available on the bari, thank god.
It would have been nice to adjust at the neck, but then again,
probably more strength at the heel.
