Dumb, simple question

About how much thickness is lost by using a master volume (at all) on a tube amp? (one that, at home, can only be run master volume about 3)

I know that at a very low point it sounds crappy, to to go against that I am going to get an attenuator (Weber Minimass) and Crank the master volume.

At home the volume will decrease a bit, but it will still we extremely loud at a home settings. If you use the attenuator to decrease the volume alot, your tone will be colored by it. The amount of thickness you can get on your amp is different on all amps. Generally the thicker tones can be achieved after the volume on 5.
