I'm putting the Distortion pup in the bridge position of my SG, with 2 vols and 2 tones. I have an extra 250K push/pull pot and thought it might be cool to split it. Can I do that with the Distortion pup or is it better to go with the 500K pot? And if it is possible, is there a wiring diagram for it on this site that I'm missing?

I installed the pick up with the 250K push/pull until I can get my hands on a 500K. I was told it only gives a little less output and a little less high end. I will rewire once I get the new pot, because a little better, to me, is a lot better. Would it also make even a little difference to change the tone pots to 500K?
Also, when I coil split the bridge pup, I can still hear one coil coming through a bit. When I tap on it with both coils engaged, I can hear them both close to the same volume. When I tap on it with one enagaged, I can still hear the one to be shut off, but faintly. Shouldn't it totally shut off? I'm just trying to make sure I wired it right.

yes having 500k tone pots will give you a little brighter tone and i would suggest it.
when you have distortion on with the volume up on the guitar, do you hear more hum with the coil split? when playing clean is the tone thinner and lower in output when split? then id say its working. if not, id say it isnt.

I think every thing sounds like it's supposed to. I'm talking about actually tapping on the coils with a blunt screwdriver. When I tap both coils with the split disengaged, I can hear both coils pretty loudly. When I tap both coils with the split engaged, I can still faintly hear one of them. I thought it was supposed to shut off completely. I'm only asking to make sure I've wired it correctly. Like maybe there are some wires touching that shouldn't be?

Blake, you mustn't tap on the bobbins but let the screwdriver be drawn with clack to the magnet poles. The bobbins are connected acoustically to each other and produce a microphonic kind of sound. Proof: If you only connect two wires (hot and cold of one coil) to the pot, you can hear the knocking on the other bobbin, too.
