Duncan '78 neck or alternative

Hello everybody,

I need an advice for a neck pickup to put into my Explorer, in the bridge I'm using a Duncan 78 and I'm very happy with it,

so I'm thinking wich neck pickup could pair best with it, a 78 neck or another one? Maybe a Pearly Gates neck?

I'm thinkin' of an A2 pup. I primary play hard rock/metal.. but I need a good clean tone too.

I would think an Alnico II Pro or a Slash would be a good match. However, any A2 pickup won't sound 'tight' like we think of when we think of metal.
